Art for Ukraine

Co-operation with the PATMOS Foundation in support of Ukraine

We are very glad to mention that Michael Rogatchi’s very special artwork Elijah Song ( 2017) was acquired by our dear friends and colleagues from the Patmos Foundation, Finland as a part of our ongoing Art for Ukraine series of campaigns in the international art charity efforts in support of Ukraine and its suffering people.

Michael Rogatchi (C). Elijah Song. Original drawing, Indian ink, oil pastels, oil on Italian hand-made yellow paper. 50 x 50 cm. 2017. Size in a museum passepartout 65 x 65 cm. Permanent Art Collection, Patmos Foundation, Finland.

The work has its special story. It was created by the artist as a prototype for one of the two commissioned stained windows for the famous Western Marble Arch Synagogue in London. The two windows corresponded to the two leading personalities whose life was closely connected with the leading synagogue, late Lord Rabbi Jonathan Sacks and long-term Senior Rabbi and Chief Cantor Lionel Rosenfeld. The work Elijah Song ( 2017) has become one of canonic images in contemporary Jewish heritage art.

In a words of Dr Leo Meller, the founder and leader of The Patmos Foundation: “The beauty and the strength discernable in the work provide a most magnificent touch – it is as if a temple of purity, beauty, strength, positivism and faith is pouring constant rays of supernatural light which overcomes the watcher, renewing our innermost with strength and hope and vision of glory“.

With cordial Thank You to the Patmos Foundation Board, true and exceptional friends. We are very glad that this unique work will adore the office of this international charitable organisation with such long tradition, such great record, and such special people in charge.
