HELPING HEARTS: Art Charitable Campaign to Help Elderly Underprivileged Israelis with medical costs & psychological assistance

The Rogatchi Foundation has started a new art charitable campaign Helping Hearts to help elderly underprivileged Israelis with medical costs.

The campaign is necessarily due to the acute and difficult situation for an elderly underprivileged people in Israel who need any possible assistance for urgent medical needs. Those people include over 111,000 Holocaust survivors in Israel, the youngest of which is 78 years old. Over 2,000 of those people were or are still living in Gaza and in the North of the country and have experienced the deep shock of the October 7th massive terrorist slaughter first-hand. Many of them have members of the families, or close acquaintances and friends whose members of the families were kidnapped or murdered during the October 7th attack. It all had a devastating effect on those elderly people who in their overwhelming majority feel that they are experiencing the Holocaust again.

This dramatic, shocking psychological trauma has also a direct and very negative effect on those elderly people’s health, not only aggravating their previous extremely difficult and deep psychological traumas, which has been painfully awakened, but also affecting many illnesses which those people have in their very advanced age.

The situation is unprecedented, both socially and medical-wise. Never before, the Holocaust survivors had to go through the nightmares they have experienced, again, in real life. And now they are all in their 80s and 90s, which does make them yet more vulnerable.

Such a situation, caused by the consequences of the October 7th massacre, led to an unprecedented situation in Israel where medical and social authorities are considering introducing a new status for such elderly patients, all Holocaust survivors, who are ‘re-traumatised’. The following new medical protocols and other measures to help these highly vulnerable people are yet to be developed. But those people do need both medical help and psychological assistance immediately and all the time now.

Importantly, many of them do not have families, for a number of various reasons. And those ones are the most vulnerable in this group where everyone does need urgent help.

The Rogatchi Foundation focuses its new international art charitable campaign towards attention and help to elderly underprivileged Israelis, primarily the Holocaust survivors, who are struggling with toppling medical costs, due to rather dramatic situation in the country following October 7th, which have affected the medical establishments all over Israel profoundly, with far too many of the planned operations and treatments had to be postponed or cancelled due to the immediate needs after the massive terrorist attack and its consequences.  As a result, many people had no other option but private doctors. And the costs of the badly needed treatments are prohibitive for underprivileged elderly pensioners.

We will be extremely grateful to everyone who would like to help those elderly underprivileged people, the Holocaust survivors in Israel , who really do need help now, both medical help and also psychological assistance. As we all know, the general situation in Israel is so very challenging and difficult, and there are so many various urgent things to fix and attend to, that medical treatment for elderly is getting quite challenging. In far too many cases, it is logistically very challenging for those people to get treatments and absolutely necessary help and assistance. The organisation of this help also requires some funding, none of which has been foreseen or planned before.

We would be extremely grateful for any of your very kind possible donations.
