Humanist of the Year Award  ceremony for film director Saulius  Berzinis at the Embassy of Finland in Vilnius, Lithuania<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n


<\/strong>On March 26, 2019, the Ambassador of Finland to Lithuania HE Christer Michelsson<\/em> and Mrs Ebba Michelsson<\/em>, in co-operation with The Rogatchi Foundation hosted a special celebration and reception on the Humanist of the Year 2018 Award for prominent Lithuanian film director Saulius Berzinis.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prominent Lithuanian film director\u00a0Saulius Berzinis\u00a0has been awarded with this Award for his tireless work on documenting the memory on Holocaust, and especially on Holocaust in Lithuania, for three decades, since the establishing of his Independent Holocaust Studies Film Archive. The director will hand his priceless archive to forthcoming The Lost Shtetl Museum and Memorial Complex as his legacy and very rich material source for coming generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several leading international figures took part in this meaningful event: Special Guest Speaker, the world-famous Finnish architect, the laureate of The Rogatchi Foundation Humanist of the Year Award 2017 prof. Rainer Mahlam\u00e4ki<\/em>; member of The Rogatchi Foundation International Advisory Board,  the one of the leading European politicians MEP Petras Austrevicius<\/em>; writer, project manager of the forthcoming The Lost Shtetl Museum and Memorial Complex in Seduva Sergey Kanovich<\/em> ( Brussels).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the guests, there were Ambassador of the USA\u00a0HE Anne Hall<\/em>,\u00a0Ambassador of Norway\u00a0HE Karsten Klepsvik<\/em>, Ambassador for Special Affairs at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Lithuania\u00a0HE Dainius Junevicius\u00a0<\/em>, Advisor on the religious issues of the Government of Lithuania\u00a0Ms Diana Varnaite<\/em>,\u00a0top representatives of the Embassies of Finland and Estonia in Lithuania, Lithuanian intellectuals and leading figures of culture, such as leading musician, the chairman of the Senate of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre\u00a0prof. Leonidas Melnikas<\/em>, well-known art collector, chairman of the board of Litvak World lawyer\u00a0Antanas Zabulis<\/em>,\u00a0editor-in-chief of\u00a0DELFI \u00a0media portal\u00a0Ruslanas Irzikevicius,\u00a0<\/em>and the others. \u00a0Talented and emotional pianist\u00a0Maria Mirovska\u00a0<\/em>performed a top-class grand-piano recital playing \u00a0Schubert\u00a0and\u00a0Mozart\u00a0at the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artist\u00a0Michael Rogatchi,<\/em>\u00a0co-founder and the Chairman of the board of The Rogatchi Foundation handed to the laureate a\u00a0Special Diploma for the Outstanding Contribution Into the Collective Memory on Holocaust. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before handing the Special Art Award to director Saulius Berzinis, the guests at the ceremony were shown a short art film featuring the prototype of the work, Song of Our Souls by Inna Rogatchi<\/em>  –<\/p>\n\n\n\n
