United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Washington, D.C.
The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., USHMM, is internationally renowned as the US national memorial and leading institution on the theme of the Holocaust. The authority of the USHMM is recognised globally. Being build to fulfil the idea of becoming a ‘resonator of memory’ according to the USHMM architect James Freed, the USHMM has been visited by more than 15 million people, has a vast collection of records and historical materials reconstructing the history of the Holocaust in pain-staking detail, and develops the Holocaust studies via its famed Centre for the Advanced Holocaust Studies and National Institute for Holocaust Education. The USHMM Holocaust Film collection is highly selective.
Previously, Inna Rogatchi’s Film The Lessons of Survival has been acquired by Yad Vashem, the Columbia University and Hebrew University. In 2015, the film will be shown as part of the official programme of the Holocaust Film Series of the JIFF international Film Festival in Australia, at the Special Shoah Commemorating Series of the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Chicago Film Festival, and at several more leading international events.
