The ROGATCHI FOUNDATION NEW PROJECT – ORHANS STIPENDIUMS in UKRAINE

Anna Bujanover Stipendium

The Rogatchi Foundation announces with great pleasure the launch of a new project in Ukraine, Dnepropetrovsk.

Beginning school year 2010/2011, a new stipendium will be awarded to two graduates of the Dnepropetrovsk pension houses for boys and girls run by the local Jewish community.

With the introduction of the stipendium, The Rogatchi Foundation would like to contribute in helping the young graduates who will be leaving their pension, at the first stage of their adult lives.

The stipendium and its name

The stipendium is named after the prolific teacher Anna Bujanover who has spent 40 years of her notable professional career with several generations of children in Dnepropetrovsk. Anna Bujanover (1932- 2005) has been a talented and very innovative, creative teacher and educator who has been known widely both in Dnepropetrovsk and all over Ukraine. She also was a generous and caring person who always helped anyone, and who did care a lot for the various needs of her pupils and their families.

The Rogatchi Foundation which has been established and run by members of the Anna Bujanover family, is confident that she would have loved to being able to support children in need, in particular those who are really willing to get the best possible knowledge and who are ready and interested in working hard in achieving this purpose. For that reason, the Foundation has decided to name the stipendium after her – The Anna Bujanover Stipendium.

The stipendium terms

The stipendium will be awarded annually to one graduate of the pension for boys and to one graduate of the pension for girls over a five years period starting in 2011. The criteria for the decision of the panel will be the results of a specially introduced annual contest among all the graduates.

The contest for the boys is For the Best Knowledge of Torah; the contest for the girls is For the Best Knowledge of Jewish History.

The panel consists of the representatives of the Dnepropetrovsk Jewish Community and a representatives of The Rogatchi Foundation.

The contest will be during the entire school year, and its results will be declared annually at the end of the school year.

The stipendium and the personal award will be awarded annually to the two top finalists of the contest, one among the boys and one among the girls on June 10th – the birthday of Anna Bujanover.

All pupils participating in the school-year content will be awarded a special prize by the Foundation.

The pupils participating in the annual content range from 5th to 11th grade. The stipendium money will be deposited on special personal bank accounts, and will be provided to the children, with the accumulated interest, upon their graduation from school, to invest into their further education.

The Cooperation with the Dnepropetrovsk Jewish Community

The Rogatchi Foundation has an ongoing fruitful co-operation with the Dnepropetrovsk Jewish Community and is contributing to the development of the community regularly. Such cooperation includes contributions for the house for elderly Beit Baruch, contributions to the pensions for boys and girls, contribution to the new synagogue in Dneprodzerzhinsk, etc. Dnepropetrovsk and its Jewish community are close to the hearts of the founders and runners of The Rogatchi Foundation as this is the native city for families of both Inna & Michael Rogatchi.
