Michael Rogatchi’s new exhibition & charities in Florence, Italy
The Rogatchi Foundation is pleased to announce a series of forthcoming special events devoted to our new project – ROGATCHI’s BLUES, the Inaugural Exhibition of Michael Rogatchi’s new arts collection, and charity events in Florence, Italy, starting from May 5th, 2011.
THE LIFE OF TWO OF US and MELODY FOR TWO collection, the new art work of Michael will be exhibited from May through December 2011 at Palazzo Cioffi – Jacometti in Florence, Italy in our joint Art Charitable project with The Baglioni Hotels Group (www.baglionihotels.com) and Relais Santa Croce (www.relaisantacroce.com). Meticulously restored famous palazzo has been named by Conde Nast Traveller ‘an exceptional address’.
NEW ART WORK: The Life of Two of Us collection is comprised of 16 oil paintings on canvas, and is complemented by Melody for Two, 6-piece collection of the original drawings in ink and pastel on paper. All work feature motives of Florence, Music and Love in stunning deep ultra-marine colour which has become a distinctive colouristic trade-mark of this sensual collection of the metaphorical expressionist art of Michael Rogatchi.
More detail on the art work can be found in the artist’s remarks on his new body of work, and Blue Magic essay by the exhibition’s curator, Dr. Inna Rogatchi, both available at the site.

EXHIBITION’S IDEA & PREMISES: Large ultra-marine sensual canvases of the Michael Rogatchi’s modern neo-expressionist art are set in the stunning premises of the XVIII century Ciofi-Jacometti Palazzo Balduccini in the heart of Florence, the home of Relais Santa Croce. The Palazzo’s famous Music Hall, the main venue of the exhibition, with its gorgeous, masterly renovated stuccos, provides an unexpected contrast to the powerfully articulated art work. As the result, two very distant cultural epochs are ‘singing’ in a fresh duetto, emphasising the beauty of each other, and creating unique atmosphere. To create something original and new, using the rich environment of the classic artful heritage was the main idea of the current exhibition.
CHARITIES: There are three charity actions that will be going on throughout the project in Florence. The proceeds from the sale of one of the most distinctive paintings of the collection, Woman in the Red Hat (Spring Awakening) will be going in equal portions to two charities helping orphans: OrhanAid for The Baglioni Hotels Group, helping orphans in Africa, and Orphan Stipendium Project of the Rogatchi Foundation helping orphans from two Jewish orphanages in Ukraine. The proceeds from the sale of Full Moon Drink, a signature work of Melody for Two collection, will be donated by The Rogatchi Foundation to the International Relief Fund for Japan. During all the time of the exhibition, there also will be additional charity sales of specially issued art items related to the new art collection, with proceeds going to the charities mentioned above.
PARTNERS: The Rogatchi Foundation is very pleased to carry on this Art Charitable project together with The Baglioni Hotels Group (www.baglionihotels.com) and Relais Santa Croce in Florence (www.relaisantacroce.com) finding good and reliable partners with genuine interest to arts, and passion for charities for most compelling causes.
In their own press-release for the event, The Baglioni Hotels Group says: “This Charitable Art project between Baglioni Hotels and the Rogatchi Foundation will transform the Relais Santa Croce Hotel in Florence into an Art Gallery” (the full text of the press-release is available here).
