THE ROGATCHI FOUNDATION PARTICIPATES IN THE INTERNATIONAL RELIEF FOR JAPAN
The Rogatchi Foundation is happy to announce its contribution into the international relief for Japan following the Fukushima plant disaster occurred in March 2011.
In May 2011, the Foundation has organised a special charity auction in Florence, Italy, at the opening of the inaugural ROGATCHI’S BLUES exhibition of Michael Rogatchi’s new body of art work, THE LIFE OF TWO OF US and MELODY FOR TWO series.
An original drawing FULL MOON DRINK, a signature work for the Melody for Two series, has been designated by the artist for the special art charity auction, with all proceeds going to the international relief effort in Japan.
There has been high and vivid interest towards the auction and the art work among the international audience gathered for the event in Florence, by distinguished Florentine public and guests arriving from Rome, Milano and Venice, and other countries such as the USA, the UK, France, Belgium and Finland, many of whom have come to Florence specifically for the event.
The charity effort of the Foundation and its founders Inna and Michael Rogatchi has been endorsed in his speech by MEP Hannu Takkula, a member of the European Union Culture, Media and Education Committee and the European Union Mediterranean Assembly; Mr Takkula also is a member of The Rogatchi Foundation International Advisory Board.
The charity auction has also been endorsed by Mr Luca Magni, senior vice president of The Baglioni Hotels Group (Milan, Italy), a good partner of The Rogatchi Foundation in the ongoing art & charity ROGATCHI’S BLUES project in Florence, with three different charities involved – for Japan, and orphans in Africa and Ukraine.
All proceeds from successfully conducted auction of Full Moon Drink drawing added with proceeds from the supportive charity sales of other art items were donated by The Rogatchi Foundation to Direct Relief International, the organisation which is running the leading joint aid effort for Japan together with JACL, Japanese American Citizen League.
In his letter of gratitude, the National Executive Director of JACL Mr Floyd Mori has written to The Rogatchi Foundation:
“On behalf of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), Direct Relief International, and the victims of the devastation in Japan who will benefit from your generosity, I want to thank you for the donation made from your Foundation to the Japan Relief and Recovery Fund.
As you are undoubtedly aware, 100% of your contribution to the fund will go directly to help the people of Japan.
Thank you for joining our effort to support the people of Japan during this difficult period. Your caring and concern for others is most appreciated” (May 17, 2011).
The Rogatchi Foundation would like, in its turn, to thank profoundly and wholeheartedly, all those people who have participated in the charitable event in Florence, and who have joined with us in one more good and much needed act of solidarity with the people of Japan in this very daring for them time.
