The Rogatchi Foundation commemorates the 10th anniversary of the great humanist Elie Wiesel’s passing in several ways, including a special commemorative essay by Inna Rogatchi and by preparing and exhibiting in various ways and countries special Elie Wiesel art collection by Michael and Inna Rogatchi.
In her essay, Inna Rogatchi noted an usual nuance in the commemoration of the great writer’s 10th anniversary since his death: “ From one side, we and the international society today utterly need a figure like Elie was, with his quiet but stern humanity which was setting the code of decency and moral normality. From another side, many of Elie’s friends had been thinking the last three years that if he would witness what we are witnessing after October 7th in the matter of unprecedented, screaming moral decline it could affect him really badly and it would wound him enormously. “
Essay commemorates Inna and Michael Rogatchi’s precious personal relations with Elie Wiesel and the unique experience such relations has provided for both Inna and Michael Rogatchi personally and the motivation and strive their work, including the one by The Rogatchi Foundation has received as an ongoing impulse from the enlightened Elie’s personality: “Michael and I were very privileged to know Elie Wiesel for more than twenty years, and he has become a very important part of our world. Quite often we have been placing his books into the context of the circumstances and episodes of his life which have become the source of everything he wrote, and what he was keeping mostly for himself , due to his character, and spoke about it rarely. “
In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of Elie Wiesel’s passing, Michael and Inna Rogatchi and The Rogatchi Foundation have created a special project, Special Elie Wiesel Art Collection, consisting of both Michael and Inna’s collections of their artworks dedicated to the great humanist.
As described in Inna’s essay: “Thinking about the 10th anniversary of Elie’s passing, we thought of producing a special art collection of our works which had been inspired or dedicated to him, and which have direct references to his life and world. This is how My Train and Night-Day-Night Elie Wiesel Special Commemorative Art Collection was born.
Each of us contributed ten artworks to the Elie Wiesel Special Collection. We call it the Elie Wiesel Dimension. “
At the time of the 10th anniversary of the great writer’s death, the question of Elie Wiesel’s legacy today and tomorrow came to light. “ For several decades, the world was thinking along these lines.
