The Rogatchi Foundation is glad to congratulate our friend and a long-time colleague, member of the Foundation’s International Advisory Board prof. Rainer Mahlamäki with his 70th anniversary, and to wish Rainer many more happy, healthy , interesting and productive years full of creativity and achievements.

Prof. Mahlamäki is known as a visionary in modern architecture, with many landmark projects both in Finland and beyond it, including various museums, such as Museum of Finnish Forest Luusto and Museum of Nature Haltia, Folk Art Centre in Kaustinen with its unique acoustic and Maritime Centre Vellamo, University campuses and centres in Helsinki, POLIN Museum in Warsaw and the Lost Shtetl Museum in Lithuania, and many very interesting projects for museums from Munich to Oman and from London to Montreal, many of which has got a special jury prizes and recognitions.

Classic intellectual, person who is very well versed in literature, history and music, and who possess an engaging curiosity towards life and its various dimensions, Rainer is a top-level professional who, according to his life-long friend, closest colleague and partners in the Landelma & Mahlamäki Architects Finland Ilmari Lahdelma has produced ‘ a new layer in the modern architecture’, and who is always looking for a new horizon, both professionally and in his unmistaken way of humanity.

We were glad to congratulate Rainer at the Special Party for a Special Man in Helsinki, alongside many of his colleagues, Finnish architects of all generations, family and friends.

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of our friend and colleague, The Rogatchi Foundation was happy to present prof. Mahlamäki Michael Rogatchi’s Reminiscence ( 1996), the well-known artist’s homage to van Gogh, which also will be presented at the Art Basel 2026 later in June 2026.
In the celebration address, the foundation has mentioned: “ We hope that Michael’s special artwork dedicated to one of the best ever geniuses of art, will bring you joy. We are glad that Vincent will live at your home. It is a good place for him to be”.

We are wishing many more joyful, healthy and productive years to Rainer Mahlamäki, one of the leading Finnish and European architects, talented visionary and true humanist.
